"Captain Dobbin" by Slessor - HELP!

My teacher suggested I use the poem "Captain Dobbin" by Kenneth Slessor as a related text for 'physical journeys' in English - but I read it and I have absolutely no clue what most of it is about (other than it's about a retired sea captain who misses his old life). I have to write in depth about this poem and I don't really know what to say! Can anyone direct me to an analysis of this poem? Or can anyone analyse it themselves? Please?

All help is much appreciated!
