I'm looking for a poem

I'm trying to find a poem and I only remember parts of it. Does anyone know who the author is? It goes something like this:

A heavenly body rips through the sky
A night is awaken and stars come alive
A cold universe is swarming with passion
Creating..............cosmic obsession
..............................lights
You all have just witnessed the birth of white nights

Katia, the extract you have quoted doesn't look like the work of any well known poet. It may be very difficult to identify unless you can provide more information.

When and where and in what form did you first encounter it? Can you remember any other bits?

Ian

Ian,
My mom actually helped me remember the rest, so it goes like this:

A heavenly body rips through the sky
A night is awaken and stars come alive
A cold universe is swarming with passion
Creating a magical cosmic obsession
Dramatic emotion bares the spirit of lights
You all have just witnessed the birth of white nights

We've heard this poem on the radio some time ago (might have been NPR science friday, can't remeber) and they were talking about white nights in St. Petersburg. This poem was one of the several "background" poems read and I liked it very much. You're right, may be the author is not well known at all... may be somebody wrote it for the program.

Thanks, Katia, for your follow-up - and well done to your mom!

I live on the southern side of Australia, and regret not having experienced white nights in St Petersburg.
