Does anyone know of a inspirational poem about Easter Lilies? Something that could be used as a bulletin insert for church services is available.
Thank You,
Jan
Janet, I couldn't find a good one about lillies, though William Blake's poem might be appropriate. But I do like this quote from A.E. Housman:
"Loveliest of trees, the cherry now
Is hung with bloom along the bough,
And stands about the woodland ride
Wearing white for Eastertide."
-- A. E. Housman
There are more quotes about Easter at the following site. Perhaps one of them will be appropriate:

Thank you, Les, for the information...I'll try that site. I love the one you sent...but this is for the dedication of the lilies! ;o)

I checked out the site...lots of great quotations, but nothing on lilies. Where would I find the Robert Blake poem you mentioned?
Jan
Here you go:
The Lilly
by William Blake
The modest Rose puts forth a thorn:
The humble Sheep, a threatning horn:
While the Lilly white, shall in Love delight,
Nor a thorn nor a threat stain her beauty bright.

Thanks heaps! I looked for a Robert Blake...to no avail. I think this will do quite well. A picture of a lily and a bit of ribbon and I have my insert cover. Thank you again,
Jan
My bad, Janet. I always call him that, comes from living too long in California.

California - home of the friendly jury.
home of the friendly jury.
Not always, ask Michael Jackson.
It's more a problem with the judges here, than the juries. Everyone, it seems, is out on acquittal. Over a hundred on death row, that's not the juries' fault.

Move them to Texas. =o)
Who is the comic who said, "If you kill us in Texas, we'll kill you back."?
No lilies, and no roses either, but it's too good a chance not to mention this folk song, one of my favourites.
A Week Before Easter
Sung by Bob Copper on A Song for Every Season LP.
Words and music are in both The Copper Family Song Book and
Bob Copper's book A Song for Every Season.
Now a week before Easter the morn bright and clear,
The sun it shone brightly and keen blew the air.
I went up in the forest to gather fine flowers,
But the forest won't yield me no roses.
The roses are red the leaves they are green,
The bushes and briars are pleasant to be seen,
Where the small birds are singing and changing their notes
Down among the wild beasts in the forest.
Now the first time I saw my love she was dressed all in white,
Made my eyes run and water quite dazzled my sight,
When I thought to myself that I might have been that man
But she's left me and gone with another.
Now the next time I saw my love she was in the church stand
With a ring on her finger and a glove in her hand.
So now she's gone from me and showed me false play,
She's gone and got tied to some other.
So dig me a grave both long, wide and deep,
And strew it all over with roses so sweet,
That I might lay down there and take a long sleep,
And that's the right way to forget her.
Ron White said that ...
Who is the comic who said, "If you kill us in Texas, we'll kill you back."?
Ron White, I'm not sure, but I know Yogi Berra said this:
"Always go to other people's funerals; otherwise, they won't go to yours."
