Long, long ago, my junior year in high school, we studied a poem about man's journey through life- starting with the innocence of childhood and ending with death. There was a series of paintings depicting the journey, I think there were five in total. They were absolutely beautiful, and that is what I am most interested in finding. The subject in the painting is on a boat in a calm river with a guide at first, and as the paintings and the journey goes on, the subject grows up, the water becomes rougher, the sky darker, and he steers the boat himself. If this rings any bells for any one, I would really appreciate any help you could offer.

Mellisa, contact your classmates, and or teacher and ask them to help you locate the author of the work(s). That will help us find it, if it is not under copyright. A school librarian, who had the name of the text, might also be a valuable resource.

If you can remember any actual quotes from the poem, especially if they contain individual unusual words or unusual groupings of words, post them, they are much easier for us to search from than a general description.
