Has it come to your attention how the race of man,
Has been climbing upward since time began.
How it's been climbing upward, and it's climbing there still,
But everytime you look at it, it's going downhill.

I've another 6 lines, Pam1, but am not sure that I have it all, and the only author I have is good old prolific Anon!

It goes on:

Downhill, folks, is the way things run,
Where the old have illusions and the young have fun.
But line up all your forebears on this path that we descend,
And a definite improvement is apparent in the end.

Though the pioneer morals universally decay
A definite improvement is discernible today.
