I was watching 'Song for a Raggy Boy' the last day. For those of you who don't know, it's kind of like Dead Poets Society only much better and based in an Irish Christian Brothers reform school and centered around the abuse that went on there. Aiden Quinn plays the inspirational English teacher who goes from teaching the underprivilaged children how to read to getting them to each learn a different poem about reveloution, independance and standing up for onesself. One of the poems was from a book of spanish reveloution poetry. The only line I can remember is:
'And I will explode like a volcano'
The title had something to do with Spain. I'd be very grateful for any help.
According to this site, it's Spanish civil war poetry -
[archives.tcm.ie] /> But which poem? Dunno.
There may be something here -
Sounds like Spain by W H Auden, which has the line "The poets exploding like bombs"
isn't it by Irish poet Patrick Galvin himself,
the writer of the book, Song For A Raggy Boy,
on which the film is based ?
