On first reading, I thought it was 'some moment when the moon was BLOND.'

And figs grew upon thorn,
Some moment when the moon was blood
Then surely I was born;

With monstrous head and sickening cry
And ears like errant wings,
The devil's walking parody

And palms before my feet.

The palms before my feet reference is to Jesus, riding into Jerusalem, of course. Origin of Palm Sunday?

Of course. We (RC) have the problem its also Passion Sunday. We start the service with the entry into Jerusalem readings, process round the car park waving greenery and then into church for a normal service with a full reading of the passion, just in case you can't make it on Good Friday.
