If someone knows of a great poem about "love at first sight" please let me know about it. OR, a quote will do.
Here's one Mona:
"Love at first sight is easy to understand; it's when two people have been looking at each other for a lifetime that it becomes a miracle."
-- Amy Bloom
Thanks so much Les. I have never thought of it that way. Mona
Can't manage a poem, but how about this:
Johnny Cash Lyrics - First Time Ever I Saw Your Face
The first time ever I saw your face, I thought the sun rose in your eyes.
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave,
To the dark and the endless sky, my love.
And the first time ever I kissed your mouth,
I felt the earth move through my hands.
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command.
And the first time ever I lay with you,
I felt your heart so close to mine.
And I know our joy would fill the earth,
And last till the end of time, my love.
The lyric is by Ewan MacColl actually.
At first sight
Love without hope
both by Robert Graves
Thanks for correcting the attribution RJAllan - I'd no idea Cash didn't write it himself
Those are the lyrics to Roberta Flack's song....isn't it? And it's always been a favorite song of mine!
Mona, dozens of artists have performed the song, Flack's was the most popular here in the U.S. For the full list of performers and dates published go here:

by John Clare
I ne'er was struck before that hour
With love so sudden and so sweet,
Her face it bloomed like a sweet flower
And stole my heart away complete.
My face turned pale as deadly pale,
My legs refused to walk away,
And when she looked, what could I ail?
My life and all seemed turned to clay.
And then my blood rushed to my face
And took my eyesight quite away,
The trees and bushes round the place
Seemed midnight at noonday.
I could not see a single thing,
Words from my eyes did start –
They spoke as chords do from the string,
And blood burnt round my heart.
Are flowers the winter's choice?
Is love's bed always snow?
She seemed to hear my silent voice,
And love’s appeal to know.
I never saw so sweet a face
As that I stood before.
My heart has left its dwelling place
And can return no more.
Thank you so much, IanB. So beautiful. It's kind of what I was looking for...
