Hello,

I am looking for the same poem you asked about. I found a handwritten, four line version in my mailbox a few days ago and thought I'd try the web. The first listing was your question on this site.

Have you had any luck finding the poem?

Steve Smith

Les, have they resorted to handwriting spam messages now?

That would be comical !

Mass mailings, I'm guessing, probably by a beloved religious institution or reputable business in that area. It catches people's fancy, so they go down there and see what kind of "nice" people would be so kind as to send them a poem.

If any of what I just said is true, of course the source of the quote might be found by going to the local agency and asking them, or their advertising company where they got it.

NOPE----I'm talking about a yellow piece of paper that has been cut in half with the words

BEFORE THE HARVEST
AFTER THE FLOWERS HAVE BLOOMED
WHEN NEW GRAPES ARE
BUDDING AND GROWING

Thats it no stamp no postage of anykind...just put in the mailbox.

Am I correct in assuming that all of you: Edward, Steve and Jamie live in Tampa. If so, sounds to me like one of your neighbors is having some fun at your expense.

It could get interesting though. Maybe a love interest and the rest as decoys.

Again I agree with the Les Assessment !

IF it had the name of the church or landscraping company.

hmmmmmm.....if I look pensive, it's only because I'm thinking.

It seems that we are all in the area because of the email addresses. Tampa/St. Pete is a huge area though. I'm in south St Pete. I'd love to know what area the other guys are in.

It's as if there's something missing...like
BEFORE THE HARVEST AFTER THE FLOWERS HAVE BLOOMED
WHEN NEW GRAPES ARE BUDDING AND GROWING
IF YOU ARE TOO LAZY TO DO IT YOURSELF
CALL VORTIGERN'S TRIMMING AND MOWING

Hmmm, lemme see now. One poster has a freebie hotmail eddress, another a giveaway yahoo eddress, and one a Tampa Bay Road Runner access. What are the odds they are all the same person? I'm not usually a gambling man, but I can smell a troll when I see one, if I may be forgiven the mixed metaphor.

smelling trolls, Hugh?
Is this an obscure olfactory fetish down your way?

Somethings gone funny inside the fridge

looks like feels like tastes like poo
glad we didnt step in it , and so is Hugh

Jim, contact Ken Koehn at the Tampa Tribune via e-mail and ask your question there. Explain to him where you live, how the poem arrived, and ask him whether or not anyone on his staff, who might live in the same area that you do, has received such a flyer. You may get a better response than here. Here is his e-mail address:

Edward you have a couple of answers:

1. It's not a famous poem
2. It's probably a local prank
3. Whoever distributed it probably wrote it

If you're upset about the poem as an invasion of privacy, take it to your newspaper, or an attorney.

No, not upset, it's a mail box no privacy issues.

Just strange and intriguing that it showed up and trying to track it's origin.

thanks for the help.

Eddie
