finding a poem about the miracle of the loaves and the fishes

How do i list a "lost poem?" It is 20th century, English or American, I believe by a woman, written before 1962. It is semi-narrative, written from the perspective of one of the Christian apostles, who is a witness to and participant in the miracle of the loaves and the fishes. It records the exhaustion of the apostle from the demands of the crowds following Jesus--and then the miracle, worked through the apostle but not by him. It has a refrain that runs something like "...always the open hand, always the ..."something something -- that is, the bottomless need, that only the miracle can fill.
Where would I look? It was read to me by a much-loved uncle in 1962, and I can't find it among his papers.
