yesterday i happend to meet a man who was in the merchant marine in world war II. he recited a poem that was written by one of his shipmates, i believe he called it "the seamans lament". it was about traveling the world over looking for a "good woman" to love. any suggestions on where i can look to see if it was ever published. i would love to find it and give him the information, thanks
Having his name would help immensely. Otherwise, you will probably never find it.
Can you remeber any lines (the first line would be wonderful, or unusual words in the poem - or repeated lines - like a chorus. They are far easier to search for and better memory joggers, than a general description. For example - the word albatross and a description of a seaman's travels would lead us to the Ancient Mariner without a second thought, but just the seaman's travels to find is a bit too broad a scope. This good woman - id he find her? Was she at home all the time? Tell us a bit more and maybe we can help.
