Modern Man Poem

I don't think anyone will be able to help me with this as it's probably from an obscure childrens book. I can only remember these lines:

I walk upright
And I stand around
I always take the bus
When I go to town.

This is the lyric of a song by 80's group Walking Seeds.
It continues something like...

I always pay the right fare, I never smoke downstairs.

I joined this forum just so I could tell you that. It's a bit sad really.

The song is called TANTRIC WIPEOUT!!
It goes like this:

"I walk upright and I stand around
I catch the bus when I go to town
I always pay the right fare
I never smoke downstairs
I met a girl from civilisation
She sneaked right past me but I don't care.

Look Out!
It's another wipe out!"

Been listening to this record non-stop for days now. Thanks for reminding me of it.

Those are the correct words Janet. I'm sure they are. Maybe this group used the poem as lyrics for their song. Could you tell me who they credit as songwriter?

The whole record is just credited to Walkingseeds. Sorry.

I wrote it with Robert Parker and we did not take it from anyone's poem. That would be dishonest. I only joined the forum to say this. You may have got the last couple of lines wrong but I think that they may be an improvement.

You may have got the last couple of lines wrong ...

You wrote it, but you don't know all the lines?

Excellent album title! And they got away with that in 1987?

Ah, Frank Martin, gotcha.

THE WALKING SEEDS
Noisy Liverpool psych band formed in 1986 from the remains of the Mel-o-Tones. Line-up was Frank Martin (vocals), Barry Sutton (guitar), Robert Parker (bass) and Tony Mogan (drums). Sutton was temporarily a member of the La's.
