Allow me to apologeize before I start. I have very little information about this poem, but I have been searching for it over the past three years. The poem involves a small group of soldiers facing insurmountable odds. Despite having no hope for victory, the soldiers fight and, according to the poet, gain respect from their enemies. Again I am sorry for having so few details about the poem, but if anyone has any information (poet, title, availability, etc.), I would be most appreciative.
Thank You.
Is it specifically an American poem you are looking for?
If not, would it be 'Horatius' by Thomas Babington Macaulay?
