From the train car window I saw him stand

There's a poem that I learned when I was a child that I could swear was by Robert Frost but now, 20 plus years later, I only remember pieces of it and I appear to have been mistaken about the author. Does anyone recognize this?

From the train car window I saw him stand
A golden stallion high on the mesa rim
And far below him his little band
Of mares and colts -sun fingers burnished him

But wrought it precious metal - creature of grace
Unfettered as the wind and standing alone
The last proud king of a kingly race.......

That's all I remember. It's driving me nuts! Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't think that is Frost. Sorry I couldn't help more...

Shouldn't Frost be in blue? Not red, in any case.

My Mother-in-law remembers a poem one of her classmates recited out of an elocution book. She is now in her 70's if that will maybe help with dates and times.

It is about two ladies sitting at a baseball game and they take everything litterally...such as...they are looking for flies. That is all she can remember. I would love to find this by next Christmas and recite it for her! Thanks for any help.

Brandi - I don't know the actual poem, but it reads more like Roy Cambell than Robert Frost - you could try looking under his name.
