The new Asia-exclusive Pandora charms!

Some Facebook ladies in Asia broke the news today that Pandora charms is releasing some exclusive charms to help celebrate the Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is the biggest and most important of the Chinese holidays and is celebrated in many Asian countries like Singapore, Taiwan, and Malaysia. The exact date varies each calendar year because the Chinese calendar is based the moon cycles vs. the solar cycles of the traditional system (it’s why you’ll sometimes also hear it called the “Lunar New Year”).

Anyway enough facts about the Chinese New Year holiday, on to what you’re really interested in: the new Asia-exclusive Pandora charms! Pandora Valentinegrinning smiley

The first special piece that was revealed by a fan on the Facebook group is the “Hong Bao” charm. It is a variant of the popular money bags charm, where instead of the dollar sign there is the Chinese character for blessings and good fortune (pronounced “fu” for those that are curious). The name of the charm comes from the Chinese tradition of adults giving little red paper envelopes filled with money to children over the holiday to bring them good luck — and presents! Pandora Valentine charms.

Pandora addicts in Singapore report that stores in China, Taiwan, Singapore, and likely other Asian countries are just getting them in this week in anticipation of the Chinese New Year on January 23rd. The Hong Bao comes in two varieties; the silver version for around $48 USD and the pure gold one for $1080(!!!). With my budget I think I’ll just stick to the silver Hong Bao and hope it brings me enough good fortune to afford the gold one someday, Pandora charms UK.

The second Asia-exclusive charm that was confirmed a little later on in the day. It can be seen in the official advertisement and it is the new Dragon gold dangle. The dangle charm celebrates the Chinese Dragon, the zodiac animal for the upcoming year, and looks like it’s going to be a really cute piece. The picture is a bit blurry so it’s kind of hard to see but it looks like the dangle is circular, like the dragon is curled up on itself. I don’t think the FB community has confirmed the price on this little guy just yet. I’ll let you gals know as soon as we find out.

Again these are Asia-exclusive charms, but at least it looks like they are available in more than just one country (similar to how the royal wedding charm was available in the UK and Australia too), Pandora UK. Currently the ladies on Facebook have found them in Singapore and Taipei in Taiwan. I think we’ll hear from more people finding them in their local stores around Asia as Chinese New Year is a pretty big holiday that is celebrated in numerous countries. So ladies if you have any friends out there, give them a holler and see if they can help you get both of these exclusive charms!
