Posted by: Kim (216.152.145.---)

Hello! Okay so in my engi\lish class we have to complie a poetry anthology having all of the poems be on the same subject. So far, I have not found a site where i can search the poems by topic, so I was hoping someone might be able to help me. My topic is jealousy, which is turning out to be harder than i expected. Any help would be most appreciated!
Thank you so much!

Kim, learn how to use Google. Just type in "poems about jealousy" and you will get dozens of poems. Here's another helpful site:

I find it interesting that this spammer is clever enough to disguise his posting origin, but too stupid to figure out how to post his junk so potential victims can at least read it in order to be lured to his web site.

Still, we assume the caribbean poker site must be the origin, since why else go to the bother. That site yields:

So, perhaps e-mails to the host will get him kicked off his IP? The poker site redirects to Hollywood Interactive, Inc. which is also an anet.com location. I will send him an e-mail, just in case that might work, including a copy of the spam.

In Tantalus in Love by Alan Shapiro, the Kingsley Tufts Award winner is at his most passionate in this new collection full of life, jealousy, lust, and romantic abandon. Shapiro is the author of seven books of poetry, and his awards include an Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Literature as well as the Los Angeles Times prize for poetry.

OH---I didnt write that---I clipped it from an article.

Sounds like he must have one or more of those 'bots' that let him post from sites he has hijacked. Oh, well, no way to isolate him then. I remember they hacked our site at work using that method a while back. One of the (dumb) users on the network probably clicked in an infected e-mail and allowed the bots access to our Server. What a nightmare! Took us weeks and lots of bucks to eliminate the trojans/worms, etc.

Somehow our Symantec Professional protection failed to catch the intruder(s). I started running HijackThis and Stinger daily after that, free programs which worked a lot better than the costly garbage from Symantec.

I've tracked at least 10 different Ip addresses. Mexico, Japan etc. I contacted several hosts, but there doesn't seem to be a point if he or she keeps on changing. But I saw yesterday and today adds that seem to point to the poker websites on emule, so I sent an email to Aaron asking if he can contact these people and have them stop. I deleted at least 30 spam over the last couple of days. It's getting really annoying.

I need help on the Diction in The Tally STick. Are there any metaphors or personification in the poem? What are they? Point out and explain examples of Paradox, overstatement, understatement, and irony in it as well, if there are any? What is their function too? Are there also any allusion in it? And are there also and sound repetition, rhyme, or rhythm that adds an emotional response to the reader? Please I need your help! Thanks and hope I can get answers by tomorrow. Thank you!!!!!!!

The Tally Stick by Jarold Ramsey

Here from the start, from our first of days, look:
I have carved our lives in secret on this stick
of mountain mahogany the length of your arms
outstretched, the wood clear red, so hard and rare.
It is time to touch and handle what we know we share.

Near the butt, this intricate notch where the grains
converge and join: it is our wedding.
I can read it through with a thumb and tell you now
who danced, who made up the songs, who meant us joy.
These little arrowheads along the grain,
they are the births of our children. See,
they make a kind of design with these heavy crosses,
the deaths of our parents, the loss of friends.

Over it all, as it goes, of course, I
have chiseled Events, History--random
hashmarks cut against the swirling grain.
See, here is the Year the World Went Wrong,
we thought, and here the days the Great Men fell.
The lengthening runes of our lives run through it all.

See, our tally stick is whittled nearly end to end;
delicate as scrimshaw, it would not bear you up.
Regrets have polished it, hand over hand.
Yet, let us take it up, and as our fingers
like children leading on a trail cry back
our unforgotten wonders, sign after sign,
we will talk softly as of ordinary matters,
and in one another's blameless eyes go blind.
