hi, i was wondering if any of u know any sites that analyse song lyrics? thanx
Kelly, if you post the lyrics here, we will give it a go.
Les
oh okay, great! well its this song by a band called 911, called "The Journey"
Time waits for no one, sure as the tide pulls the ocean
Sure as, the path that's been chosen, cannot be changed
In my life's destination, I searched for the explanation
For some kind of reason, for my sorrow and pain
But in my isolation I learned to listen
To be thankful for the love that I'd been given
[Chorus]
This is my journey, journey through life
With every twist and turn I've laughed and cried
As the road unwinds
This is my journey, and I've learned to fight
To make me strong enough, to lift me up, to bring my dreams alive
In my desperation I swore that never again
Would I hear all the laughter of my friends and my family
A million tears that I'd cried then began to dry
In the silence of the night time
I had came to realize
A sweet inspiration filled my horizon
Gave me the heart to go on and never would give in
[Chorus]
This is my journey, journey through life
With every twist and turn I've laughed and cried
As the road unwinds
This is my journey, and I've learned to fight
To make me strong enough, to lift me up, to bring my dreams alive
I'm going to love each moment, of every day and night
I'll look back to the past with the sweetest smile
For now I realise, I've been given the key to life
I've been kissed by the angel by my side
[Chorus]
This is my journey, journey through life
With every twist and turn I've laughed and cried
As the road unwinds
This is my journey, and I've learned to fight
To make me strong enough, to lift me up, to bring my dreams alive
To bring my dreams alive
To bring my dreams alive
I understand what it's about, but I was hoping to go more in depth. If you guys can help me then I would greatly appreciate it!
Thanx
Kelly, I think you've chosen a great song. This one has some depth to it. Begin your analysis by telling what you think the song is about. Like all analysis projects you need to begin by outlining your thoughts something like this:
1. Introduction (Why you chose this song?)
2. Theme ( What the song is about.)
3. Emotions
4. Imagery/other poetic devices
5. Meaning (This ties in with #2)
6. Effect of the song on the listener
For #'s 2, 3, and 4 you can do a line by line analysis and explain what each line means to you, either thematically, or lyrically. Finish your essay by explaining how you feel when listening to this song. Does it make you feel happy, sad, thoughtful, etc.? Good luck with your project. Let us know how it goes.

Thanks so much for ur help
As soon as I saw this song, I knew that it was perfect for my core study: jouneys. I'm also thinking of linking the song to past experiences of my own, so that its shows that I can relate to the song. Well now I got that out of the way, I'm hoping to be more assistance to others on this site
hey i was wondering if anyone had an in depth meaning of Two Bed's And A Coffee Machine by Savage Garden, or knew where i could get an analysis of the song?

Holy Grail - Hunters And Collectors
Woke up this morning,
from the strangest dream
I was in the biggest army,
The world has ever seen
We were marching as one,
on the road to the holy grail
Started out,
Seeking fortune and glory
It's a short song, but it's a
Hell of a story, when you
Spend your lifetime trying to get
Your hands on the Holy Grail
Bud have you heard of the Great Crusade?
We ran into millions, and nobody got paid
Yeah, we razed four corners of the globe,
For the Holy Grail.
All the locals scattered,
They were hiding in the snow
We were so far from home,
So how were we to know,
There'd be nothing left to plunder
When we stumbled on the Holy Grail?
We were foolish beings
But we were dying like flies
And those big black birds,
they were circling in the sky,
And you know what they say, yeah,
Nobody deserves to die.
Oh I,
I've been searching for an easy way
to escape the cold light of day
I've been high, and I've been low
But I've got nowhere else to go
There's nowhere else to go
I followed orders
God knows where I'd be
But I woke up alone,
all my wounds were clean
I'm still here
I'm still a fool for the Holy Grail
Oh yeah,
I'm a fool for the Holy Grail

The City of New Orleans
by Steve Goodman
Riding on the City of New Orleans,
Illinois Central Monday morning rail
Fifteen cars and fifteen restless riders,
Three conductors and twenty-five sacks of mail.
All along the southbound odyssey
The train pulls out at Kankakee
Rolls along past houses, farms and fields.
Passin' trains that have no names,
Freight yards full of old black men
And the graveyards of the rusted automobiles.
CHORUS:
Good morning America how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.
Dealin' card games with the old men in the club car.
Penny a point ain't no one keepin' score.
Pass the paper bag that holds the bottle
Feel the wheels rumblin' 'neath the floor.
And the sons of pullman porters
And the sons of engineers
Ride their father's magic carpets made of steel.
Mothers with their babes asleep,
Are rockin' to the gentle beat
And the rhythm of the rails is all they feel.
CHORUS
Nighttime on The City of New Orleans,
Changing cars in Memphis, Tennessee.
Half way home, we'll be there by morning
Through the Mississippi darkness
Rolling down to the sea.
And all the towns and people seem
To fade into a bad dream
And the steel rails still ain't heard the news.
The conductor sings his song again,
The passengers will please refrain
This train's got the disappearing railroad blues.
Good night, America, how are you?
Don't you know me I'm your native son,
I'm the train they call The City of New Orleans,
I'll be gone five hundred miles when the day is done.

What about this song??
Song: Journey to the Past Lyrics
Heart, don't fail me now!
Courage, don't desert me!
Don't turn back now that we're here
People always say
Life is full of choices
No one ever mentions fear!
Or how a road can seem so long
How the world can seem so vast
Courage see me through
Heart I'm trusting you
On this journey...to the past
Somewhere down this road
I know someone's waiting
Years of dreams just can't be wrong
Arms will open wide
I'll be safe and wanted
Fin'lly home where I belong
Well, starting here, my life begins
Starting now, I'm learning fast
Courage see me through
Heart I'm trusting you
On this journey...to the past
Heart don't fail me now!
Courage don't desert me!
Home, Love, Family
There was once a time
I must have had them too
Home, Love, Family
I will never be complete
Until I find you...
One step at a time,
One hope, then another
Who knows where this road may go
Back to who I was
On to find my future,
Things my heart still needs to know
Yes, let this be a sign!
Let this road be mine!
Let it lead me to my past
Courage see me through
Heart I'm trusting you
To bring me home...
At last!
At last!
Courage see me through
Heart I'm trusting you
yea...
Hey, Laura...

Hi.
I have to write a paragraph showing that the melody of the song Tears in heaven by Eric Clapton closely connects with the mood of the poem/song Wreck on the highway by Bruce Springsteen...any suggestions??
Hi.

Tears In Heaven
by Eric Clapton and Will Jennings
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.
Would you hold my hand
If I saw you in heaven?
Would you help me stand
If I saw you in heaven?
I'll find my way
Through night and day,
'Cause I know I just can't stay
Here in heaven.
Time can bring you down,
Time can bend your knees.
Time can break your heart,
Have you begging please, begging please.
Beyond the door,
There's peace I'm sure,
And I know there'll be no more
Tears in heaven.
Would you know my name
If I saw you in heaven?
Would it be the same
If I saw you in heaven?
I must be strong
And carry on,
'Cause I know I don't belong
Here in heaven.
BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN lyrics - "Wreck On The Highway"
Last night I was out driving
Coming home at the end of the working day
I was riding alone through the drizzling rain
On a deserted stretch of a county two-lane
When I came upon a wreck on the highway
There was blood and glass all over
And there was nobody there but me
As the rain tumbled down hard and cold
I seen a young man lying by the side of the road
He cried Mister, won't you help me please
An ambulance finally came and took him to Riverside
I watched as they drove him away
And I thought of a girlfriend or a young wife
And a state trooper knocking in the middle of the night
To say your baby died in a wreck on the highway
Sometimes I sit up in the darkness
And I watch my baby as she sleeps
Then I climb in bed and I hold her tight
I just lay there awake in the middle of the night
Thinking 'bout the wreck on the highway
i need lyrics on physical jouneys 4 my HSC assessment
hey can anyone give me a physical journeys song
hi. I have to do an assessment task on 'physical journeys' do you's think the song 'cats in the cradle' by Ugly Kid Joe would be a suitable text? if so does anyone have any ideas on what i could write in response to:
"How does this tect contribute to your ideas on physical journey?"
Becuase I am lost on where to start!
thanx
here's the song's lyrics:
My child arrived just the other day
come to the world in the usual way
but there were planes to catch
and bills to pay
he learned to walk while I was away
he was talking for a minute
and as he grew
he'd say I'm gonna be like you Dad
you know I'm gonna be like you
And the cats in the cradle
and the silver spoon
little boy blue and the
man on the moon
when you comin' home son
I don't know when
we'll get together then
you know we'll have
a good time then
Well my son turned ten
just the other day
he said thanks for the ball Dad
come on let's play
can you teach me to throw
I said not today - I got a lot to do
he said that's o.k.
and he walked away and he
smiled and he said
you know I'm gonna be like him yeah
you know I'm gonna be like him
And the cats in the cradle ...
Well he came from college
just the other day
so much like a man I just had to say
I'm proud of you could you
sit for a while
he shook his head
and he said with a smile
what I'd really like Dad
is to borrow the car keys
see you later can I have them please
And the cats in the cradle ...
I've long since retired
my son's moved away
I called him up just the other day
I'd like to see you if you don't mind
he said
I'd love to Dad
if I could find the time
you see my new job's hassle
and the kids have the flu
but it's sure nice talking to you Dad
it's been sure nice talking to you
and as I hung up the phone
I occured to me
he'd grown up just like me
my boy was just like me
And the cats in the cradle ...
And the cats in the cradle ...
Hey can u please help me with holy grail by hunters and collectors. Heres the lyrics:

does anyone know where i could find a synopsis or an outline of the meaning of the song 'cats in the cradle' by ugly kid joe? thankks
shan, you most likely know impetus for "Tears in heaven," but I'll give it to you anyways, since it is a very compelling story:
Eric Clapton wrote "Tears in Heaven" after his baby son died by falling out of a window of Eric's penthouse apartment. I'm not sure about the premis of Springsteen's song, but can you see in both sets of lyric's a general theme? It seems they both deal with a tragedy wherein a child is horribly killed: From the ghastly losses, one parent learns to hold his children more dear, the other yearns for contact with his lost baby. I think Clapton's talents as an aesthetic lyricist were in full force. In this context, whenever I hear "tears in heaven," I'm always pierced to my soul.

they both deal with a tragedy wherein a child is horribly killed ...
Say what? The father is too busy to spend time with his son. His son grows up and is too busy to spend time with the father. The moral? There is never enough time unless you make it happen, I guess. Or, you reap what you sow. Take your pick. Oh, the chorus is a collection of nursery rhymes.
The mother collapsed in a swoon;
The father drank dry a saloon;
The little dog laughed
At a bovine moon craft;
The dish has eloped with the spoon!
Hugh, I was refering to the springsteen and clapton lyrics. In the future,I will make sure to be more clear. Sorry for the confusion. cosmo.
