I'm working with my son on poetry and we've been reading All the Small Poems by Valerie Worth. He is 14. Any suggestions on talking with him about these poems?
Thanks.
bernahm, there are perhaps some useful ideas here:

I have not read the book, but the question is intriguing. Here are some Amazon reviews which may be of interest:

I am confused about the question because reviews I saw suggest the poems are for children aged 4-9, and could be used to teach basic reading skills.
If the concern is the subjects chosen, that would be something else again. Was there a delicate matter that was of particular difficulty? Ghosts and goblins, maybe?
Actually, nothing delicate. And yes the book is a bit young for my son. But I'm a poetry novice, and the book was included in a curriculum I bought. I wanted to use it to introduce poetry. I believe the poems are mostly metaphors. I just wanted ideas on how to discuss with him, what to ask to prompt him to think or some fun ideas to do with the poems.
Thanks. I actually found that site after I posted my question!
