hi, i have to write an essay on the following question:
'Discuss the ways in which both Byron's use of the story of Cain, and Caravaggio's religious paintings, utilise and challenge the Bible.'
I don't have a clue where to start. Can anyone help? Are there any books or websites that can?
Thanx!
Could you download a couple of Caravaggio's paintings? That would help.

I would go with the similarities to the Bible stories chosen by each of them, then throw in the differences, expounding on their reasons for diverting from the original.
I feel sure there are many sources on Google you can tap.
Something to think about as you plan this assignment. What if you'd never heard of the Bible? Would the stories still make sense?

write a critical appreciation of 'say not the struggle nought availeth' by Arthur H. Clough. consider such matters as poets use of verse structure, imagery,rhythum and rhyme, also explain cearly your interpretation of the poem's meaning? i havnt a clue where to start if any one could help that would be great. thanx
Say not the struggle nought availeth,
The labour and the wounds are vain,
The enemy faints not nor faileth,
And as things have been, things remain;
If hopes were dupes, fears may be liars;
It may be, in yon smoke concealed,
Your comrades chase e'en now the fliers--
And, but for you, possess the field.
For while the tired waves vainly breaking
Seem here no painful inch to gain,
Far back, through creeks and inlets making,
Comes silent, flooding in, the main.
And not by eastern windows only,
When daylight comes, comes in the light,
In front the sun climbs slow, how slowly,
But westward, look! the land is bright.
Structure - quatrains each rhyming abab. Rhythm iambic tetrameter, feminine endings on odd lines, masculine on the even. Imagery - tired waves, creeks, inlets, windows, field. Also examples of metaphor. Personification, for example fears are liars. Interpretation - don't give up the fight!
Have you tried Google?

I seriosly need help on my project I am doing in English 2 and I need to know about the economic status of the dates between 1874 and 1963, because I don't know where to find it at and I really need help on it, so if somebody could possibly have an answer for that or some help then please reply to this and let me know. This project is worth 2 hundred and some odd points and I really need that to bring my grade up.
economic status of the dates between 1874 and 1963
Where, Antarctica? And what does economic status mean, anyhoo? Which economic systems were being used in, say, South Africa, for example?
Is this a poetry question? Sorry, I just don't understand.
I'm with you there, Hugh. You have the decline of Britain, the rise of Germany and America, the developement of communism, even without Japan and China coming into the picture, and that's just dealing with developed economies.
