Does anyone out there have an interpretation of My Last Duchess by Robert Browning I could read to help me understand this poem?
here are some notes my honors english teacher gave me about this poem.
- speaker – arrogant – art connoisseur – doesn’t really see the beauty in the art,
just wants it to make him look rich, intelligent, and important
- looking for somebody worshipful – no real feelings
- wife was a flirt (affairs?)
- did he have her killed?
- wanting someone to find new duchess
