Of Boston

Begin in defense,
wary eyes, cold gaze.
Untouchable,

as I wait for you.

Miscommunication of
information in the
formation of our
thoughts over the
wireless phone,

and I'm alone.

Finally we meet,
neither sure how to smile
(that's probably my fault).
Your brother smiled, though,
and you broke the ice,
gently informing me of
my mistake.

Nervous chatter,
necessities,
hunger, and
so we find
the subway.

Northern pride
battling for truth --
we love it --
and he
sidesteps it all.

Ginger ale, a croissant
and cold coffee.
Begin to smile, to
test the boundaires.
Peek around walls
build of protections --
can I play, too?

Not sure if you're
what I expected, and
I don't know what to do
with who you are.

All that you are.

Chaos,
fear,
cold reality,
and you and he
are cool
as I panic.

Two hugs and - surprise! -
a kiss goodbye,
and for a moment,

I dare to believe
you're there.

I really enjoyed reading this Lady. I could relate to the feelings of nervousness, and uncertainty, very well written!

Ginger ale, a croissant
and cold coffee.
Begin to smile, to
test the boundaires.
Peek around walls
build of protections --
can I play, too?

Gwydion,

Thank you for reading. I like the way you always pull a few lines out of a poem that you liked, to specifically point them out. Thank you.

Johnny,

Oh! Sorry. I'm Megan. Some people around here know me by my real name, but I'd forgotten that a lot of the newbies don't.

Lady Megan, I suppose I should have been clever enough to figure that out, but I didn't

Thanks

See what? lol

Nutmeg,

Would like to say that I enjoyed the peice, and the fun sense of innocence intermixed with snapshots of a young woman coming of age.

However, I think that you have a grammatical problem in your "build" line, specifically with that word itself.

Love you, and thanks for the French lesson earlier.

Enjoyed this too Megan. There was a hesitancy and innocent quality about it.
Liked seeing the pics too. People are never as I imagine them. Take Bruce for instance and Johnny SansTorso.

Bruce,

Uh.. what 'build' line? La lesson du francais? C'est rien! smiling smiley

K.Q.,

Thanks.

JP,

Bruce? Lol, yes, I can see what you mean there. Then again, I saw his picture around our 3rd conversation, so I can't picture him any other way. Glad you enjoyed. And Johnny? OH yeah!

Megan, you've done a fine job of showing the vulnerability and other emotions involved in a first meeting.

Ginger ale, a croissant
and cold coffee.
Begin to smile, to
test the boundaires.
Peek around walls
build of protections --
can I play, too?

The other thing you do very well is details--showing!

Good job.

Nutmeg,

I swear you do this just to make me reread your poems. :p

I am talking about this verse here: the same one that NCW showcased.

Peek around walls
build of protections --
can I play, too?

Lol, OH! I reread the piece about four times and STILL missed it, until you told me where. That's supposed to be "built," of course. I'll fix it.

And if I want you to reread the piece, I just smile sweetly and say "pretty please with sugar on top?"

Jean-Paul,

I.. don't see a pic. Thanks for the compliment. I look kinda plain tongue sticking out smiley

I think I just pictured somebody... hmm. About 5'10" longish (maybe.. 3, 4 inches) dark brown hair, kinda V05 silky goin on, dark eyes.. early 40s..

I don't know how old you are or anything, and I am TERRIBLE with ages. Please don't be offended!!

As an example, at Walgreens we have signs out saying we card all ages, but in training, they tell us to specifically card everybody that looks under 40 when they want cigarettes (we don't sell alcohol). Well... I have carded sooo many people who were born in the early 50s. So.. ya know! I'm really bad with ages.

Lady....I used to be 6' but the weight of the world has made me 5'11.....my hair used to be dark brown and of a smoother texture...now there's more pepper than salt..and the pepper hair is not as smooth....I am 44....and my eyes are of an indeterminate color.

I don't think you were too far off the mark.

Chickepoo

I am 6' tall, kinda heavy with dark brown hair, dark brown eyes and freckles.
I have a huge skull and my hair is too thick to do without gel. If I go without, I get the Darth Vader look (see the attachment from when I was 17)
I am small boned and my wrists are disproportionately small for a man my size.
I have been told I have beady little eyes.
My feet are size 9 1/2 and if I tell you my waist size, I'd have to kill ya. LOL
During my last physical, I told my doctor "Of course I'm in shape. Round is a shape isn't it? So is pear."
