In the Land of Almost

Its Neither, Neither Both and Neither

It is not good or bad
or
light or dark
but sound or soundlessness,
that is,
good and bad can be mixed,
as can light and shade.
But it is either sound
or
no sound:
one or the other...
no compromise.

Not a magic
I wish to dwell within.

ii.

It doesn't just lead me
away from the right conclusion.
It leads me to
the wrong one.

Not just adrift...on the wrong shore.

iii.

Demarcations: before and
definitely after.
Like the fall
coming in the front door...
and after,
that is,
now and what I am
and what I am in
after the fall
and the pain that continues
In my left arm.

I still can't tell
my right from my left
from up here,
above my body,
in my head.

iv.

Draw a circle
round him
thrice,

after childhood
in the night,

after innocence.

v.

She is right
about it not being just either/or,
as all this implies,
but both and neither
hardly suffice.

The binary bind
equals a trap

a spell
implying
no way out

vi.

Someone else is speaking.
Listen
or not.

The binary bind is, indeed, a trap. Good observations throughout, Peter, especially:

"it is either sound
or
no sound:
one or the other...
no compromise."

Joe

PS: Get some sleep...ruminating in the middle of the night makes life tougher during the day...take it from one who ruminates much too much.

I like this rambling, and its eventual conclusion. Some food for thought here, Pete.

it's just my nose running
and that damned hay fever
and I go a computer
sitting by my bed
just waiting, watching
to see if I will blink...
and then the ruminating starts on its own
thank god, I guess, I sleep alone.

Otherwise, I'd get a kick in the head.

amo et avanti to all,

Peter
