Fire Shadow
Look into the fire! See there,
Shadows of all desire...
They are there,
Not your own, less tangible, yes,
You, too, make, touch who you are,
But shadows in the fire, show themselves,
Beyond where eye and ear,
Or is it air?—It makes itself known in wind,
Held, tight, by chimney flew,
House
Tight against the day,
Clouds, village, men's
Voices seeking forgetfulness
Beneath ether and black, starry night.
What is not seen, is always:
We call it, dream.
I was inspired by the writing of Robert Duncan, an early book titled, "The Opening of the Field."

I appreciate your sharing that type of information. It does help the reader get a better sense of your inspiration.

I like the closing lines, Peter. A nice read.
Thanks for stopping by, rainysunshine. Hope all is well with you and your family. I think of you often, even when just review old poems written in the middle of the night.
