Red Baiting

In 1964
my French/Latin teacher in high school,
Charlestown High School,
told me to be careful,
when I came to get my yearbook signed,
not to be associated with those NAACP people,
when he heard I'd marched around
in front of the Boston School Committee offices
on Beacon Hill,

because they were communists.
