A Bird In Hand
A bird in hand, I have
Why shouldn't I be content?
To risk the bird is mad
Regardless of the good I meant
Yet what is life without the daring?
One must risk to gain
But I cannot keep myself from caring
About the loss and pain
To chance it all and fail
I can think of no worse fate
Except to live life on a rail
Unable to deviate
So now I must build my strength
Pin all my hopes upon success
But still I ponder at much length
Our capacity for forgiveness
I found this very poem very moving. It expresses how one can doubt oneself when making a decision, sacrifice, or risk. Try not to be afraid of pain and loss, it always ends at a point. The hope that something good will come out of it or that it would just end soon is enough to keep one going.
very nice

"To write something, you have to risk making a fool of yourself." Anne Rice
I guess at the time I wrote it, that's all I had to tell... but you're right... it has turned out to be very sad. Maybe I'll write more that will continue the story... right now it's really hard though...
Cheer up, man (woman? post on User Profiles 3), we're with you.
Good poem!!
