I dont know what to say about this one, draw your own conclusions, but I think its pretty self explanatory.
Lizz
What if I were to say
I love you
What if I were to say
That every minute of every hour of every day
I've been thinking
Of you.
What if I were to say
That I fell
Into the long dark well
Of your eyes
Long ago
And what if I were to say
I don't want to climb
Back out.
I'm content to drift
In a sea of chocolate
Of hazel, of coffee...
I'm content.
What if I were to say
That even though I have climbed out of your well
Even though the earth
Is hard beneath my feet
Once again...
I still love you
I will always love you
There will always be a peice of you
In me.
And if
On long winter nights
When all the world looks black
You should ever want me
Just reach into the well
Behind your eyes
And I will be there.
Lizzy, What if I were to say that this poem is great. jhs
Lizzy, very nice.
Lizzy,
Eloquently beautiful, I think that sums it up
T.K.
Thanks guys! I always love to hear comments, good, bad an ugly. Not that theres anything here but good... Which Im not complaining about...
I just thought that poetry was the only way to describe this particular feeling. Thanks for reading it!
Lizz
super dee duper, as usual. makes me think of mexico...sad...miss them...yes both of them...actually...makes me miss the bubbles...sad.
~J
I agree, I dont miss Bubbles that much... I leave that to you. I miss the bubbles though.

Sarah
Its a nice thing, isnt it...
Lizz
Hey Lizzy...I have a friend like this. And he may never know how I feel. But ur poem helped me remember that its all worth it being here for him. And one day I will hopefully be able to tell him.

Sargirl

~J
Sarah:
I miss it too! I was listening to that CD that you hated so much and missing you and your mom like crazy! Glad you liked the poem.
Jex:
I was lying, I don't miss Bubbles at all. wellll, maybe I miss him just a little, but only for your sake
I'll work on that other one for ya.
Lizz
Liz
What a coincidence, I miss my mom too!
She is hanging out with Kevin all day, and last night for that matter too. She is coming back this afternoon though. We went shopping yesterday, and I started crying for no reason. Oh well, at least I got cool clothes and a poem about a monkey out of it. Oh incidently, it was your dad who showed me that monkey!
Sargirl
Cute! I'll have to get him to show ME sometime! Is it at Grammas?
Lizz
Noooooo. It is in alaska on some stupid cave wall!
Yea it's at grandmas!
Just ask him for a tour of the place, and he'll show you like thirty of them!
Sargirl
Alright alright already. I guess I'll have to go to alaska then
!
Lizz
I could have sworn I had already added my praise of this piece here, but apparently not. So, well done. I enjoyed it much.
as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he
Grace, Lizzy gave you great advice. Even if the worst happens, nostalgia is better than regret.
Jex? Is that J's name? If it is, I prefer it so much more than a simple letter. J is so much more than that ;-)
I liked the ending the best Lizz, even if Steve is a loser :-P
ha ha ha! I see I have some explaining to do! Ok, here goes, The poem is about my ex boyfriend JC, Steve is my cousin who I write poetry too and with. J's name is Jessie, but somewhere along the line she picked up the nickname Jex. She's been my best friend since age 4 or so. So, all cleared up I hope! Oh, and I liked the ending the best too, that and the chocolate hazel coffee eyes part, but that's because I like food.
Lizz
Apologies to Steve!
Chocolate, coffee flavoured eyeballs; yummy!
Amendment as fallows: JC is a loser ;-)
Nice to meet you Jessie, Jex, J! Where is YOUR profile?
Probably on the side of her face.
Yes, go to Alaska. Get eaten by a bear and leave my all of your dead husbands money. (He got eaten by it trying to save you) all for the sake of the monkey.
Sargirl
laughing hysterically Jack, you are too funny.
Brucefur
Uhhh, yeah sarah. First I'll have to marry... How about the loser JC? He was rich... Well, he will be, you can tell, and his dad is
. But I wouldnt do that even to go get killed for you. I just couldnt possibly.
And Jack, I would say you're probably right. I would think.
Lizz
ahhh. i see i have been discussed in my abscence. well, i can actually explain where jex came from. our friend william can't spell so when he writes emails he exaggerates it, so my name was jecee (somewhat like jessie...well...i know, it's a stretch). i was typing it one time and i missed the c key and hit the x...thus jex. anyhoo. i'll change my profile since ya'll like it better (actually, i do too). my boyfriend (i.e. spens, bubbles, sunflash) doesn't like it. made him think of something weird. uh. great poem.
~J
All right. Fine. I'll just have to get money the normal way. sigh
Sargirl
Why dont YOU just marry money, Sargirl, if your mom wont?
Lizz
Look: I know I'm having a bad day. And I don't want to be crabbier than normal. But some time back, somebody said, shame there isn't a chatroom on this site. Maybe so, maybe not.
Next thing, lo and behold, the User Submitted Poetry forum has changed into ... a chat room. Crabbily, I say - I am not interested in what you kids are up to. I am very interested in your poetry. I know the poetry is rooted in the experience, but I can enjoy Shakespeare's sonnets without too much detail of what he was doing and with who and where and whether they enjoyed it and what they had for breakfast next morning. So, spare me the chat. Because it's getting so I don't want to visit the forum anymore: my time is limited, and too much trivia is bad for me.

Ok, how about if you just read the poems? I see no reason why you should feel obligated to read all the other comments. If you have something to say about the poem, then just scroll to the bottom of the page and do so. I agree that the subject of the comments is more often than not something other than the poem, and I also agree that this is not a great thing, but I think it just happens. You could save yourself the trouble and time wasting of reading the comments and go straight to comment on your own though. I will try to cut back on the chat.
Lizz
Lizzy-
It was nothing personal, I'm sure. Stephen is just a crotchety old fart, and I am a curmugeon with a D!
Oh hell! The whole idea is to be able to discuss stuff! If you want to skip the lenghty ones than go ahead! I for one appreciate the inlightening conversations I take part in here.
Sargirl
Oh and I am all ready sure I will mary for money, looks, inteligence, and love all in one. yea right
Sargirl
Sarah:
I'm sure you will too, oh, and already is one word one L
. Tee hee hee.
Jack:
Thank you.
Lizz
I really liked the poem, Lizzy, and I don't go much for love poems in general. This one has some very good word pictures and keeps moving. It doesn't rely on soppy (is that a made up word-- sorry Jay--but when you typo and misspell as much as I do made up words are a saving grace) sentiment and it is sharp.
bobo
Not sure if its a made up word, but I think it is. I agree about love poems though, but that was how this relationship was, sort of to the point, not much mushy stuff. I admire that sometimes.
