For you have touched my soul
In a myriad ways,
Your poems, your words, each one
Has smiled on lonely days.
But now I cannot write,
The wind blows cold and chill.
Sadness, melancholy?
Name it whate’er you will.
“This too shall pass”, just know
That I am with you yet,
So let your words flow on,
And know I’ll not forget.
JP, I'm assuming from the tone of your poem that you will still be around for readings and criticisms. I hope that this is the case. Your opinions are important to me. Perhaps you're burned out a bit or have writer's block. If that is the case you may wise in backing off for a "short" while to refresh yourself. After all, "this too shall pass." Summer is upon us and it can be pleasant in Rockford, so enjoy yourself. And as Eric Burdon used to say so well,"you're on my mind." jhs
A wonderful poetic description of writer's block; and nothing more I hope.
There you go with those archaisms again- "whate'er". Get rid of it!!
Stephen
Stephen,
Why don't you like those archaisms? There aren't many more possibilities to keep the thing in metre, y'know. Or can you think of another solution?
siren
She talked me into joining facebook, then I never hear from her. I'll get the cattle prod out and wake her up.
Terry:
Good to hear from you, cowboy. Hope all is well wherever you are these days.
Joe
Good one Jo. I almost believed this was newly written until I saw the date!
Wow! 2002, must have been my blue period. Hi, y'all. Haven't been on here forever it seems. I miss you all, often think about you. I'm now retired and waiting 'til Spring, as you may remember I just hate winter. Haven't written anything in ages, I think my brain dried up, either that or it's all the activity around here. Joe, Les, Merc you seem to be constants. Ever hear from Ell, Silent Siren, Nolon, Christy, Stephen, Jack? Hope you are all well, ain't none of us getting any younger. Merc, how are your bloody cows? Brucefur, I see on facebook all the time, he's still having a rant now and again.I'll try to visit more often now I have a Password again. Love and best wishes to you all.
JP
JP, it's great to see you posting here. Needless to say we've missed your British wit and thoughtful rhymes. Now all we need is Stephen Fryer and the whole lot of us from way back when would be complete.
Les
JP:
Welcome back! It's good to see your name on the "marquee" once again. Please visit frequently; even if your muse isn't cooperating, your critiques and your wit always make for pleasurable reading.
Joe
Jack allowed he'd be amongst us, soon as he could get outa his bedroll,, or something.\
JP,,, SO WONDERFUL TO SEE YOU BACK HERE!!! MISSED YOU A LOT!! (I still ride Triumph motorcycles just in honor of you)
Love ya Kid.
Siren is having trouble with her pass word. I think she is trying to access her old account.
I have daily rants JP, but only 1 in 10 get past my filter. Lots of bad things going on in my life right now, which is why I am writing again I guess.
Good to see you made it.
Wow, so many people have come back, if even for a visit...it's wonderful to see these older poems from before my time; some amazing talent worked these boards.
