you have grown into this
and yet you wear it
like a new shirt that
has not conformed to your shape
we have found ourselves
in the one place
we have always said
we would never be together
i didn't know
a man could fall so far
until i found myself
shaking at your feet
shaking
here beneath the cover
embraced by the darkness
of these woods
i knew this storm was coming
but i came here anyway
wondering if it was possible
to have a thought that didn't contain you
ray wrote a song for you
and i listen to it
not because it's good
but because
sometimes i need
to hear a voice
prettier than mine
say your name
in this moment
the rain owns me
i am past wishing
to be dry
and thinking about
how each drop
would run down your neck
to your shoulders
i have loved you
since the first time
i took your picture
and took it
to a place where
i could really read it
to see in your face
what i had always known
it shouldn't hurt
a thing that brings
so much joy
should not bring pain
but the skies
show no sign
of closing.
apoemwriter,
I like this piece. It is hard to write in an original way about our feelings. You have succeeded in this.
Peter
this is cruelly romantic. I feel the pain of both people...now that is poetry. My favorite flavor, in fact. Is cruelly a word? haha.
Wonderful.

love it.
Good one, Writer, welcome to the mule.
Les
Thank you for the comments everyone.
Peter - I have been reading this site for a few months and have enjoyed many of your poems. Thanks for being the first to comment on one of mine.
I hope to see many more in the coming time.
amo,
Peter

I sense a Jaymo thing going on...
I see some similarities, but don't think it's jay.
thanks for the bump. This was a gem.
