People Watching

Faces at a distance,
Milling, rolling, twisting
Ever changing in my eyes.
Strangers who I see,
I talk with them each day,
But we all live our own lives
In our own worlds.
Our own words,
Our own songs
To pull us through each day.

Some conversing,
Some smiling,
Yet even fewer laughing,
Yet even more hiding.
Hiding themselves within their world,
As strangers,
As strangers we are safe.
Distant and unfeeling,
We smile and show sympathy,
But are relieved to do no more.
At a distance we remain
Faces, nothing more.
Another blur in an
Ever-changing myriad of color.

A good read, Samitr.

I find these lines capturing the essence of your poem, Samitr. I think there is so much troubling all of us these days that we have all we can do to live inside our own skin. Even if we know that reaching out to each other may be the very thing that could save the situation.
