Love Shines in the Darkness of an Internet café

He gave me that special smile;
I know he knows I love that smile. It reminds me of
Jack Nicholson in the movie,
‘Terms of Endearment’ and his cool playboy ways.

I smiled my shy-embarrassed smile and tucked
a lock of shiny coal behind my ear; I narrowly missed knocking
my la-di-dah coffee all over the keyboard in my effort to look ‘hot’.

I briefly noted the brilliant snow reflection blasting through
the only window in the dimly lit café while I accessed my Hotmail inbox.
For the next forty-ish minutes I lost myself in replying to friends
and snorting coffee through my nose while reading jokes.

Eventually I blinked,
extended my arms up and pushed my chest forward and
stretched and stretched and in doing so noticed he was watching me.
I blushed, he blushed; the café was steamy, the light was brilliant
and I was falling in love.

Great job, Gwydion. Especially the last verse.

I enjoyed this read Too, Gwyn. You were able to create suspense beautifully with the pause of getting invovled in browsing your email. Beautifully done!

Enjoyed reading it. Nicely done in a carefree way, which is often difficult to do.

Unmistakably Gwydion.
A fun and flirtacious poem. snorting coffee through your nose (too funny)
Merry Christmas to you!

So playful and romantic!

I love "la-di-dah coffee" too. (The phrase and the coffee itself. teehee.)

Bump....as a "Welcome Back" to Gwydion, and because it is a very nicely-written poem.
