I was zippin' 'long the hiway,
Hungry from my wits,
So I grabbed up my telephone
An' called the gal named Mitts.
She knowed a real good Mexi joint
An' agreed to meet me there.
We each put away a burrito
(one was big 'nuff to share)
We chatted a bit bout poetry
Bout flyin' an' our jobs.
I was stuffin' in burrito parts
In rather nonediquited gobs.
But she just keept on a smilin'
An' we talked of her son a while,
I ate the tortillias hungrily
An' avoided her knowing smile.
In the parking lot we said "g'by"
An took a second and we hugged
Jumped into our respective cars
An' out of there we bugged.
I hit I ninety headed east
Then twenty five on south.
Pickin' parts of burrito
From the corners of my mouth.
Hmmm...The rhymes seemed forced, Ole Chap. Good try though.
Terry,
You keep this up they are going to name you the oficial Emule ambassador or something.

PS: Got your answer to my query. thank you. Funny those ammendments. Sorta like the small print, eh?
A job well done!
Actually Bruce, it's the large print. Most people, who know anything about it, know the amendments and very little about the body of the document.
Keep, doesn't matter if it's forced, horrible, whatever, it was not intended to replace the iliad.
forced? Hell, mine are beaten and tortured into shape ! Ha !
together, we broke bread
called tortillas
over large hot plates
of burritas
there wasn't the time
to teach me to rhyme
so i have no way
to finish this..
twoten, thanks for dinner! we never got to finish talking about everything. next time....
mitts
He bit a burrito she ate a tortilla
He said "hey, how are ya" she said "good to see ya"
The waiter came by with some nice mantequilla
And they buttered each other all up
The waiter brought over arroz with (con) pollo
he played with his food like it's some sorta yoyo
she told him she thought his behavior's a no-no
as they feasted themselves on the flan

Terry, I liked these lines best:
Hungry from my wits (brain food, no doubt)
In rather nonediquited gobs. (as opposed to educated gobs)
An' out of there we bugged
Glad you two had a rendezvous, or should I say encuentro.

¡SI MUCH LOCO!
ediquited is susposed to be using the root word ediquite if spelled correctly would mean manners. ergo unediquited is totally without manners. Or as a slob if you prefer.

It's ok, Terry, you don't have to acknowledge my comments. Everybody knows I still read your stuff.

I enjoyed the poem, Terry. Made me lonesome for some good cooking, all the Mexican places out this way are way too mild with the chilis and spices.
Johnny,
Flan...good stuff.
John
Cute poem. The Mexican out here stinks, even the fish tacos.
Don't you have actual Mexicans, like we do?
No, but we have lots of Dominicans here...
Yep, plenty of Dominicans, Salvadorians, Ricans both Costa and Puerto, Cubans, Mexicans, and Canadian Geese
Fish Tacos?!?!?!
Fish Tacos are a staple in San Diego and other places that serve food from Mexico's Atlantic coast states: [splendidtable.publicradio.org] />

Don't the tortillias get wet?
No, they deliquify it first.
How do you deliquify fish?
There are no fish tacos in Texas. There is also no fried soup.
By cooking them.
Don't the tortillias get wet?
They precook the fish meat, bake/broil/steam and shred it into chunks like you would chicken for a chicken salad sandwich.
Les
I probably wouldn't for a chicken salad sandwich.
JH comprende mi amigo. I´ve been to eastern spots that use ketchup for salsa.
talk about "get a rope"!
Holly, you is wrong, there is a fried soup at the Edge of Texas, a fabulous steak house in Newsome. (on the border north of El Paso. Ate there yesterday.
Terry, you're pulling my leg.
Well, I bet we have fish tacos and that stuff. Just have to know where to look. (I ain't lookin though...don't sound good.)
i don't know how to spell it, but i just learned how to make it. cervichi. ground raw fish, soaked in fresh lime juice for a few hours. chopped tomatoes, cilantro, onion added to this freshly ground fish after it has soaked in lime juice. scoop it onto a tostado shell...mmm mmm! the fish actually is cooked by soaking in the lime juice.
Ceviche is the only thing I will eat in a mexican Restaurant
no accounting for taste,,,
nor lack thereof.
Hmm, all this talk about fish makes me hungry for some good old fish and chips.
Liked the pome btw. When ya coming to Rockford?
JP
As soon as I get an excuse. I was in Illinois a couple or three years back. Crossed the state I did, from east of Champaign Urbana to Nauvoo, then up to an antique tractor museum o'er in I-oh-way. We wuzn't much of buddies back then. Unknowed you, I did.
Last time I was in the shadow of the large Ben, I ate a fish and chip or six. Never could get me to stand very close to a kidney pie though. Even if the piss is boiled out of it.
If God had not invented whiskey, we'd'a o'ercome England centuries ago!
Makes me hungry....for food and for Terry and the others who made this a great place to visit.
