Devolution
(A Nursery Rhyme for the 21st Century)

Waste-water washing away down a well,
Geneticists coolly mutating a cell,
The Garden of Eden transformed into Hell.
Devolution: (noun) biology - loss of function: The gradual loss of the biological function, specialization, or adaptation of a part of the body over many generations.

Thanks for your comments. Every once in awhile my ecological muse pays a visit and I can't shake her off until I write at least a couple of lines. Glad you approve.

I like the title and the poem just fulfills the expectations crted by your title. Very brief but rich. Good one Joe!
Thank you, Khalida.
Bump. After all, it is still April and I'm pretty sure Earth Day will soon be forgotten for another year as it usually is.
