John MacDonald, 43, threw a bottle of petrol or other flammable liquid through a window at a home in Kingsmills, Elgin, in December. His former girlfriend and her new partner were among those inside. At the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Lord Stewart told MacDonald: "I judge the only proper sentence is a long period of imprisonment." He added: "You continue to deny responsibility and in keeping with that position you have exhibited no remorse." Alistair Brooks, Anne Roate, Daniel Doherty, Lisa Sharp and George Lindsay were injured in the fire. Mr Brooks suffered burns to a quarter of his body and is still receiving treatment following the attack. 'Commend courage' Lord Stewart said a jury had earlier accepted the lives of all those in the flat at the time of the fire-bombing were endangered.
