I know this is a long shot. But on the movie A Cinderella Story, Austin quoted this " I can't sleep without knowing there's hope. Half the night I waste in sighs, in a wakeful doze I sorrow. For the hands, the lips, the eyes - for the meeting of tomorrow". Sam then says "Quoting Tennyson".
Any help is appreciated. I've looked until I drove myself crazy. Thanks.

thanks Les you are a life saver. I've been driving myself insane about that part of the movie. I really love poetry, but it has to be something so simple its profound to really catch my attention. And when I heard that being qouted on the movie, I had to rewind and replay like a millions times. I like how that part was subtle, yet deep. Anywho, thank you much.
actually...i just finished seeing that movie mintues ago and wanna search exactly what Autin quote here on the net. then i am here.... by the way,do u know the name of this poem? i want to view it as a whole. do me the favor to let me know more ...if u would like. reach me at my mailbox donna1208@vip.sina.com

yes it is an excerpt from: Maud; A Monodrama
2.163 Half the night I waste in sighs,
2.164 Half in dreams I sorrow after
2.165 The delight of early skies;
2.166 In a wakeful doze I sorrow
2.167 For the hand, the lips, the eyes,
2.168 For the meeting of the morrow,
2.169 The delight of happy laughter,
2.170 The delight of low replies.

pam
hey but which one do i click on pam??? and what part is the quote in? please reply
Click on the first one. Either read the whole poem or look for the line numbers listed in Meagan's response. (Or do a CTRL+F, and search for a phrase.)
pam
i am still having no luck finding the quote within the poem......if anyone could tell me what site and where exactly at i would appreciate it
thanks for the website....i finally found the quote
You won't find the quote because they didn't bother actually using the language from the poem; they "modernized" it.
Heyy, haha i know this sounds funny but i heard it in that movie as well. And i am driving myself nuts trying to find it. If you find anything can you send it to me? If you would like i can do the same. It's an amazing quote!!
Cait, read the posts above yours, it's from Maud. Just click on flat view, and read Meagan's reply above. If you wish to read the entire poem, click on the hyperlink I gave to Passerby. [tinyurl.com] />

Hey!
I heard it in the film as well. And I was like: wow! So, I began to search and I came here. Thanx!
i absolutely love this quote!!! Cinderella Story has to be the greatest movie!!!! its a fantastic quote ;-)
THANK YOU! Ive been looking for it EVERYWHERE. I even watched the movie 5 time just to get that quote and eachtime I missed it. So thanks a bunch. It helped alot
Yeah I drove my self crazy looking for that poem too until I found this page...thanks for writing it i have wanted it for a long time!
I recently watched the movie, and it was so coincidental - i had an english assignement due on poets, but i didn't know who to choose! Then i saw "a cinderella story" and when austin quoted lord alfred tennyson, i knew i wanted to do my assignment on tennyson!
But then i realised i don't know what poem it's from? so i searched like MAD - until i decided to write the whole quote in a search engine. It led me to THIS site, and for that i am thankful!
that's it ... half the night ...
love you guys!
X
(love the film!)
