1. Exams 2. Love

Hello :-)

I'm wondering if anyone can help me to find 2 poems/quotes

1. My friend is just about to sit his final exams. Do you know of any poems/quotes about luck or success. I want to write something in the card a bit more original than "good luck"!

2. A poem for valentines day. The person who it's intended for is, at the moment, just a good friend- so the poem can't be too soppy! Any suggestions? I'm half thinking of love's philosophy- shelley.

Thanks.

Just a good friend AT THE MOMENT, you say? This is dangerous ground, Lucy, and poetry will NOT make it safer. "Love's Philosophy" is a pretty bold statement. If you're ready to say LET'S BE MORE THAN FRIENDS, I think you should say it in your own words, to avoid any possible misunderstanding.

ON THE OTHER HAND, if this is what you want to say, then the question isn't WHETHER to use it, only WHEN.

-------------------------------------------------------------

"LOVE'S PHILOSOPHY"

The Fountains mingle with the river
And the rivers with the ocean,
The winds of heaven mix for ever
With a sweet emotion;
Nothing in the world is single,
All things by a law devine
In one another's being mingle -
Why not I with thine?

See the mountains kiss high heaven
And the waves clasp one another;
No sister-flower would be forgiven
If it disdain'd its brother:
And the sunlight clasps the earth,
And the moonbeams kiss the sea -
What are all these kissings worth,
If thou kiss not me?

By Percy Bysshe Shelley.

Roses are red, violets are blue,
Would it be wrong if I came on to you?

Thank you! Love's philosophy maybe is too much of a gamble:-) I really like your version of Roses are red.... that might be safer!
