I've a friend who's currently going through a hard time. She's feeling that life is passing her by and worried that "this is as good as it gets". I would really like to send her a nice uplifting or cheerful piece of poetry to cheer her up and show her that life's not really so terrible after all. However, not being much of a poetry reader myself, I have no idea of what would be a good poem. Here's where you guys come in. Could you suggest a good poem for me?

Here's one I like,
THE BUILDERS Henry Wadsworth Longfellow Feb 27,1807--March 24,1882
All are architects of Fate,
Working in these walls of Time,
Some with massive deeds and great,
Some with ornaments of rhyme.
Nothing useless is,or low;
Each thing in its place is best,
And what seems but idle show
Strengthens and supports the rest.
For the structure that we raise,
Time is with materials filled;
Our todays and yesterdays
Are the blocks with which we build.
Truly shape and fashion these;
Leave no yawning gaps between;
Think not,because no man sees,
Such things will remain unseen.
For the elder days of Art,
Builders wrought with greatest care,
Each minute and unseen part;
For the Gods see every where.
Let us do our work as well,
Both the unseen and the seen;
Make the house where Gods may dwell
Else our lives are incomplete,
Standing in these walls of time,
Broken stairways, where the feet
Stumble, as they seek to climb.
Build today,then,strong and sure,
With a firm and ample base,
And ascending and secure
Shall tomorrow find in place.
Thus alone can we attain
To those turrets,where the eye
Sees the world as one vast plain,
And one boundless reach of sky.
What is more encouraging and poetic than scripture? After all, there is nothing new under the sun.
11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD , "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
