Screen Adjustments

I know many people running smaller monitors, older computers and settings at lower resolutions have mentioned problems with scrolling (to the right). I made several minor changes and basicially moved the advertisements around to try and make things easier. Everyone gained an extra 150 pixels of width. Let me know if any poem (any poem at all) scrolls to the right on the main website.

The goal is to allow everyone to view the site without much difficulty!!! smiling smiley Let me know if your experiencing any problems.

Aaron

Well it was fine until you moved the ads up on top, now it's wide screen again,

JP can you tell me what resolution you are running? I would assume your 640x480, the banner up top is just under 800 pixels wide...so I would assume somewhere around 15-20% is off scrolling to the right?

You don't have the IE search or IE favorites bar open on the left hand side do you? That could also push things over to the right too far.

Oh, you don't know how to make a screen shot of what your seeing on your monitor and send it to me do you? If possible, I would love a screen shot of what you are seeing. Here is how to do it: Load up the page which is having problems like you described above. On your keyboard hit the "print screen" button once. Load up Microsoft Paint. Now do a paste (either CTRL-V or click on edit, then paste). It should then dump a screen shot into microsoft paint. Save that file and email it to me as an attachment! This way I can figure out what is going on and fix the issue if its on my end or offer you pointers on how to fix it on your end!

Hope that helps,

Aaron

Mine's all wide screen as well now - I've no bars on the sides at all and there are about 30 characters (inc spaces) off the screen . Our resolution is 800x600

no worries. It looks like when I made the changes ---- we exposed some really bad programming we implemented back with a earlier design change. So now is a very good time to fix those old ghosts :-)

Sorry for the bug in the road. We should be back on track shortly.

OK ---- I made my second major change to the code this morning (Monday Morning). Let me know what it does now?!?!?!?!?

I found 1 error where the code said to stretch the table out to 100% of the available width (the problem: There was stuff that needed to go on the right hand side as well!). Anyhow, it should be viewable in 800x600 resolution again.

IF at all possible please attach screen shots to any reply if something is broken or give me as many details as possible to help me track the problem down!

Best,

Aaron

Aaron, could you increase the size of these menu selections please.

I'm old, my eyesight isn't what it used to be. Also, I think they are used much more than many of the other menu selections and are therefore more important. Thanks.

Les, I increased it from 8point to 10point font. Let me know how this works for you. I don't know if I can increase the size without making things wrap around funny for those in 800x600 resolution....at least not without moving the menu elsewhere or something. Perhaps in a square 2x2 format instead of the current rectangle format??

Hope that works,

Aaron

The 'dark gray' bar cannot be easily modified. All of the 'links' are thrown into an array then printed to the screen. So selecting 1 item in the array and setting it to bold would require a bit of coding.

I might be able to add a sentance or two above the gray bar, but below the google ad -- any suggestions on a key phrase of words to use? We could also add in a link to the FAQ (yes, we haven't expanded the FAQ but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't go ahead and put a link in for it).

If you write it -- I'll put it up there :-)
