I have agreed to share Moderator responsibilities with Aaron. That is why my name appears in bold.
I can edit and delete posts. This is useful when there are accidental double posts.
As you know, there are from time to time attacks on the site, or on individuals. I will keep an eye on those, but I will exercise my responsibilities with a light touch.

Well, dash on over and fix the Poison Tree & Human Abstract glitches on Blake's stuff while you are lolling about. I think someone mentioned a double on the Bradstreet works as well.
And forget about deleting this post. I will just type it up again!
good luck !
Does this make you like the dreaded hall monitor?
I can see him now with a whistle- "No posting in the halls!" "Mr. Clary, just what do you think you're doing?"
Welcome, I think you'll make a fine monitor. But, remember the old axiom, "He
governs best, who governs least".
Stephen isn't supposed to MONITOR us.
He's meant to MODERATE us.
You know -- curb our enthusiasms, temper our judgments with mercy, that sort of thing.
Ah, I see now. The position apparently doesn't include fixing glitches, I guess. Mea culpa for making the suggestion, sorry. I should be safe in posting this one in the halls then:
Once the size of my member was visible,
I determined her fountain unfizzable
When she choked back a chortle,
In departing my portal,
And derided my rising as risible.
Perfectly safe, Hugh.
Er ... what's it about?
Judging from the description, about two inches
That last post is just so offensive to us small members!
What offensive? It's a love story. Boy meets girl, girl metes laughter.
Billy, in one of his nice new sashes,
Fell in the fire and was burnt to ashes;
Now, although the room grows chilly,
I haven't the heart to poke poor Willie.
Marian NYC, sorry I should have said "moderator". But what I'd really like to see Stephen do, is peruse the other poetry forums and incorporate, or suggest incorporation of features on them, which would make this site more user friendly, and/or more efficient.
Les, it's not that long ago we had the relaunch:
At that time, Aaron & Co introduced some new features but not all of our ideas could be incorporated.
My role as moderator is limited to edit/delete, but I am always interested in participating in debate on ideas for the next time round.
Stephen, I realize that I'm a newbie here and relatively lame when it comes to
the technical end of website design. But there are some features on many of the websites which I find useful and perhaps desirable for emule.
One is color and background, such as Brucefur's.
Another is categories for poems such as the Starlite Cafe.
Yet another is soundbits for famous poems.
One more would be categorizing poems by title as well as by poet.
I realize that all these changes can take time and need some planning and thinking, but if we don't put them up for suggestion they may never be considered.
Good Day Stephen,
Several decades ago I heard a poem which I have not been able to locate again. I believe it was a Canadian author. The last line or jist of it is that God saves the gift of rest in order to always brings us to his breast for comfort. Does any of this sound familiar enough that you could help me locate this poem ?
I'm afraid you have mistaken my role. As moderator, I edit or delete posts. Finding 'lost poems' isn't my job, thank the Lord - others do it better than I ever could.
So, please start a separate thread, by clicking on New Topic. Good luck.
As moderator, I edit or delete posts.
Since you never have to do any of that, it sounds like a cushy job.
Unless you're not getting any money, of course, when no one can say you aren't earning your pay, least of all yours leisurely.
Bump, to remind people I'm around.
Nice newbies, so you can see there's no need to worry, nor feed evil egoes: just ignore and leave it to me.
Not-so-nice newbies, so they can realise their efforts are pointless.
Always good to know that you are around and ready to scrub free the little messes left behind by the riff raff. It is a tough job and you do it well. I appreciate the time you put into it. Merry Christmas.
I'm with John - thanks and Merry Christmas, Stephen
Ditto and "like they said."
(I was once tapped to serve as Moderator for an activist organization. I refused on the grounds that I am not, have never been, and never will be MODERATE. They also serve...)
I was chosen because I'm even-handed -
i.e. I HATE EVERYBODY, EQUALLY!!!
j/k. Merry Christmas. I have made so many good friends in this place, it's my small miracle.
Thanks for investing yourself in this site. I came upon it late in 2002, loved it at first, but then became quite disillusioned because of several less than sincere contributors. Your efforts have restored it nicely.
I haven't been here long, but I realize how much work you put into this so far.
I really appreciate the effort you made to delete some recent posts.
I realize I didn't react kindly to these people and I am glad you deleted my replies to them.
Please be patient with me.
I think you are doing a great job Stephen, and I hope to keep in touch with you people.
This is a wonderful site (except for the occassional &^heads)
