Did Matthew Arnold write these words about Christ?
"Far hence He lies in that lorn Syrian town
And on His grave with shining eyes,
the Syrian stars look down."
I've looked for this quote in several ways and have found nothing can anyone help?
'Obermann Once More' is the long long poem from which your quote comes.
Certainly Christ features in the poem, but I have no opinion.
I've read it but it needs a more dedicated reader than I to analyse its hundreds of lines.
Maybe you're the one to get your quote into perspective. Good luck.
