I Need some help understanding this poem

The poem speaks of the sheer wonderment at the words of the ancient writer Homer. George Chapman translated the original in 1616, and John Keats - the eldest son of a livery stables manager - spent a night in 1816 reading the words aloud to a friend. The sonnet tries to say something of Keats' feelings when confronted with such perfection as he had read. In spite of all the travelling he had done, in spite of having been told about Homer's work, he can only marvel at it now. Just like anyone seeing something wonderful for the first time really!!
