I am continuously deleting posts by a spammer (if the spammer in question is reading it: there's no point, we have several moderators, and your posts will be removed as you place them).
Should you see a subject brought to the top by him or that you like, don't hesitate to bump it (add a post of your own). I will remove the spam, and the post will disappear otherwise. And sometimes it's nice to read something from the good old days ;-)

It probably takes 2 minutes to post each spam, since the author has to type in a different name each time. It takes us less than 2 seconds to delete the post.
I do hope that the restoration of the site filter is coming along.
Les
Oh, will the removal of the spam then "un-bump" the post back to it's old location? I didn't know that, or didn't pay attention.
ok will do...I've been saying that whoever is doing this seems to have excellent taste in which thread is being bumped.

Yes, the posts on all forums are prioritized from top to bottom by DATE, the most recent ones on top. Hence, it's easy for us moderators to spot the spam, by just checking the most recent posts on any given forum. I usually stop by the website 3 or 4 times daily.

me too!
Oh well, thing is, in the mornings, I'm usually having a nap. Then, after lunch, it's a nap for me. I tend to have a nap early evenings; then it's time for bed, me being tired and all. So this moderating business, well, you know ...
Stephen, if I didn't know better, I'd think one of my cats posted the above.
It's ok, Stephen, considering the remuneration that we moderators receive, I'd say you're definitely earning your keep here.
Les
Johnny, could you train one of your cats to recognize "spam"?
Les
I will attempt to do so !
Kevin is there any way, with the current equipment, that we can ban the spammer, and anyone who supports them, by banning posts from their web address, or internet provider? In my mind, the only reason I see for spamming this site might be to generate hits for a particular ip address. Can we ban that address?

There is an interesting proposal here: [www.chauy.com] />
Les
I'll have to do some research, I'm sure I can track them down by the time of the post and the ip address.

Great, thanks for the prompt response.

Les- there's one on the Lost Quotes forum this morning, as well as the one under Dusk here.

Thanks Marian, Desi, will stop by soon and swoosh them away.
Les
p.s. Couldn't find any spam on the Dusk thread. Unless you mean the conversation between Linda and myself concerning the weather. lol

Thanks Hugh, I checked out another site and got a completely different webhost based in Texas. I still believe that blocking the spam from the E-mule end would be the most effective means of stopping it.
