Anybody framiliar with the website poetry.com and weather or not they're a valid site in terms of submitting poetry for the contests I sent in a poem for a contesst and got something in teh mail saying I was a semifinalist but something makes me think if I got that letter then everyone must get it who sends it in. They also say something about publishing the poem in a book or whatever anyone had any experiance with that they'd like to share.
I'd appriciate any feedback a lot
They actually accepted a poem with the line or title "Kill the Knee Grows"
as a semifinalist, so it's pretty obvious they don't actually READ what is submitted
its a scam to make you buy the book at exorbitant prices
figured that not that i'd buy the book anyways
U r the semifinalist. then what to think of it. YOUr poetry is appreciated, Poetry.com is a authorised site. I think u can go on
Gorow, the topic has been discussed several times here at e-mule:
The easiest way for you to find out for yourself is to simply type; Internet Scams Poetry.com, into your search bar and see what comes up. Here are the ones that came at the top of my list:
I myself submitted a poem to them when I was new to the Internet thing and when they proofed my copy, they changed my spelling from the Queen's English to American English. I sent them a revised copy highlighting their mistakes and they sent me a reply telling me that they wished to publish my letter in their new anthology. i.e. it is all automated and they are just in it for the $$$.
Those last two links are my favourites. In the last one, he calls poetry.com the Mother of all scams and the second to last one is a site sponsored by Piers Anthony (i.e. not just another disgruntled poet who had their wording changed and their wallet fleeced!).
All they want is your $$ for some publication they theoretically put out.
