HI Moderator,
I have a suggestion for this site. I feel the white back ground u have given for this site is a bit distracting, need to concentrate more. I think if u can give some cool colours and any other colour which hold our attention, it will be great.
Let me think if i hav any more suggestion , i will post
thanks

I'm very disappointed there is no Rilke on this site.
wtf.
I believe Rilke's work is still under copyright, so we can't place it on the site. If you prove us differently we'll be happy to add him. I love his im westen nichts neues, but haven't read much of his poetry. Anything particular you can recommend?
stem,
no color, no color, please ...
Concur here, no color. Black on white works fine for me.
yes, thank you, no color.
Use colorful metaphors instead
One can have colors if one wants by using the html tags. Look at the source of this page to see how it is done.
Hugh, that's ok....it's BACKGROUND colors I object to !
Also, since I'm on here at work, it's good to have a site that looks business-like

I would like to use color from time to time.

Les, color text, or color background?
Actually, I would like to use both.

I can't decide whether to post the lyrics to "SWLABR" or "She's a Rainbow", so I will do neither !

I don't quite like the way the software counts the number of times one has edited. I edit a lot to remove typos and improve my language.
Ah! But if it must, it must.
I am so happy with the efforts of those who have worked to improve our site that I feel I can wait awhile to see if any discomforts I might feel won't just fade with time. Thanks again.
Peter
Everyone knows I edit loits for typos and to add in any untoward language I canthinkof.
hih
amo,
Peter
I would like to use indentation without too much technical input on my part so I could experiment with spacing in my poems again. I gave them up when I started posting to the forum because the html notation was too cumbersome for my sensibilities.
Peter
I think the time stamp may be a little off.
It is now 10:04pm Left Coast Time
Looks like 'someone' neglected to turn off the blue text color tag.
Oops, that's green on white - weird. Needs more experimentation.
Testing Pre tag for indents:
When the lord of the manor's factotum
Was kicked by a mule in the scrotum,
His words of abuse
Were rather profuse,
But decorum forbids me to quote 'em.
Hugh, why won't the background colors (bg) code work here. Does that have to be set for the whole page?
Les
you all worry about the colors,
but no one misses the mule ?!
my eyes are starting to hurt.
Am missing the mule. It kept things a kind of in perspective.

The mule will return. It will, however, take a bit of time to find him again!
Best,
Aaron
He's still on the home page!

oh goodly, the blue is gone
mine eyes was bugging out, i tell ya what !
Peter, what happened? Were you testing?

Dunno, but I will check around the Phorum pages to see what I can find.
[phorum.org] />
I see they have a Discussion section where the question could be posed as well.
Looking at the Source of this page, I see commands such as,
"textarea
{
background-color: White;
color: Black;"
These probably set the page requirements, but I will have to check further.
were you testing?
Yeah, he meant to say:
mostly mostly mostly

Les, you're leaning towards the right.
be careful
as I will try to be as well
When Peter gets weary and such, he
Withdraws, but he still keeps in touch; we
Can listen today
And still hear him say,
"I love E-mule so muchly, so muchly."
Reading the posts on the Phorum forum, it looks like there is a template file (.tpl) that controls the background color, not accessible to ussuns, that is.
Still, we have a lot more toys with this version than the last one. I have not set up a login account yet, so I don't know if the 'new' flags on unread messages is gone or not. Perhaps someone who logs in knows?
I definitely think the default after posting should return one to the 'message list' page (used to be goto top), but I don't know how others feel about it.
new messages works fine with me. Am very happily logged in. And it remembers even if I use another computer.
No, not background changes!!!

Do not go gentle into that good night
by Unknown Author
Do not go gentle into that good night,
Old age should burn and rave at close of day;
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Though wise men at their end know dark is right,
Because their words had forked no lightning they
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright
Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
Wild men who caught and sang the sun in flight,
And learn, too late, they grieve it on its way,
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Grave men, near death, who see with blinding sight
Blind eyes could blaze like meteors and be gay,
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
And you, my father, there on the sad height,
Curse, less, me now with your fierce tears, I pray.
Do not go gentle into that good night.
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.
This poem is by Thomas Dylan..just so you know...

Mr. Motorcycle, is there a particular reason why you posted Thomas's poem on a thread about site improvements?
Les
Desi,
yes... and failing.
sorry for the clutter, folks.
Peter
Katherine, maybe this site has what you are looking for:
Rilke's work is already in public domain (he died in 1926), but the English translations are probably not. Nevertheless I found this site through google:
It has many translations by different translators (Bly and Mitchell included).

V.

Checking the Phorum phorum, it looks like there is a section in the site's template that needs to be included:
< quote >
postform.tpl
emailreply} checked="checked" {/IF} /> {LANG->EmailReplies}
don't forget the tr above and below it.
< end quote >
Hey, a checkbox appeared in the post, way cool!
Even more weird is that I did not think I added my message to this thread, but to the snafu one.
More checkbox tests:

Green
